Biography of Burma boy

Damini Ogulu (born 2 July 1991), known professionally as
Burna Boy , is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter. [1] He rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing the lead single "Like to Party" from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).
Early life
Burna Boy was born in Port Harcourt on 2 July 1991, to Bosede and Samuel Ogulu. He is the only boy child and the eldest of three children. During his upbringing, Burna Boy spent most of his summer vacations in the UK. He participated in summer language immersion camps in France, Togo and Côte d'Ivoire, before moving to the UK. [citation needed ] Between 1993 and 2002, Burna Boy attended Montessori International in Port Harcourt and Corona Secondary School in Lagos. He founded the band Def Code while at Corona and performed at the school's 50th anniversary. [citation needed ]
Burna Boy studied media technology from 2008 to 2009 at the University of Sussex . He also studied media communication and culture at Oxford Brookes University between 2009 and 2010. He then completed a one-year internship at Rhythm 93.7 FM Port Harcourt before signing a record deal with Aristokrat Records and officially launching his music career. [2]
Career
On 31 May 2012, Burna Boy released "Like To Party" as the lead single from his debut album L.I.F.E .[3] The music video for the song was released on 5 September 2012; it was shot by Squareball Media and ran for 4 minutes and 9 seconds. [4]
On 24 September 2012, Burna Boy released "Tonight" as the second single from L.I.F.E . [5] On 31 December 2012, he released the video for the song. In the music video, Burna Boy expresses his innate feelings.
He released his debut album L.I.F.E on 12 August 2013. [6]
In 2014, Burna Boy split from Aristokrat records.[7] In 2015, he created his own record label called Spaceship Entertainment.
He released his second album On a Spaceship on 25 November 2015. [8] In September 2016, he released the 7-track EP titled Redemption, with the lead single "Pree Me" debuting on Noisey .[9][10]
In January 2018, Burna Boy was featured on the track "Sunshine Riptide" off Fall Out Boy 's Grammy -nominated seventh studio album, MANIA (2018). [11]
He released his third studio album Outside in 2018 to critical acclaim. [12][13] It debuted at number three on
Billboard ' s Reggae Albums chart. [14] The album's biggest single "Ye" ended up atop most Nigerian publications year-end list as the biggest song of 2018. [15][16] Burna himself ended the year as Nigeria's biggest artist of 2018.[17]
On 7 October 2018, Burna Boy performed before a sold-out crowd at London's O2 Academy Brixton. [18] A day prior to the show, he held a pop-up event at Red by Little Farm and sold limited boxes of his Space Puffs cereal, as well as custom notepads, lighters and graphics tee-shirts. [19] On 9 October 2018, Burna Boy was announced as one of Spotify 's New Afro Hub Takeover Artist. [20] The announcement coincided with him being named YouTube's Artist on the Rise for 3 months. [21]
On 3 January 2019, he was announced alongside Mr Eazi, as one of the artists performing at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. [22] He won four awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, including African Artiste of the Year, Listener's Choice and Best Male MVP. [23]
